Born into the silence, the world looked small to me. Just rubble mountains, whispered fears of tanks beyond the eastern line, Priests painted futures darker than the deepest forest pine. Our house, a stone on a windswept hill, cars, a rumor, seldom seen. Father shoveling coal dust, mother, a spectral queen, Searching for butter, sugar, grain, across the barren fields she'd tread. The cold wind blew through Thal, planting questions in my head... Days were measured in hunger pangs, the chill that bit the bone, Nights were for the whispers, of a life I'd yet to own.
